Tulips, Bluebells and Poppies

Ahhh....Spring is on it's way with snowdrops popping up every where and tulips brightening our homes.

My lovely bunch were given to me by my husband. Isn't he great! He even chose ones that match the felt vessel I made myself in December.

I bought a felting ball from Twist Fibre Studios in Newburgh and just followed the instructions. It was good fun and I'm hoping to make more soon.

Been getting back to my felted pictures this week.

As I was laying out the fibres for the hills and sky I spied lots of lovely purpley shades in my stash of fibres and before I knew it a swathe of bluebells had appeared.
I have kept the piece simple to try and capture the tranquility of rural Scotland.

I'll definitely be making more on the bluebell theme as the purples and soft greens really appeal to me.

I also made another piece featuring a drystone wall.

This time I added some organza poppies to the foreground with French knot centres.

These two are available in my online shop at the moment.

I love your felt pictures!! And those are lovely flowers! Can the felt bowl hold water for them, or does it need another container inside it?

Love your new 'wild flower' inspired pictures - they are beautiful! I agree about the purple and the greens - it really works well :)

Hi folks. Thanks for visiting and leaving nice comments.
The vase has a jar inside. It's quite a tall one and slimmer than most so it fits just perfectly through the opening.
I sold a similar piece to Poppy Cottage today and they just loved it. Really pleased about that. More to come!

Thanks everyone.
A felting ball is a bit like a heavy duty balloon. You inflate it and felt round it much like doing papier mache round a balloon. Once all your fibres are in place, you fit the bottom(bum) areas of three pairs of tights over it and felt it with water and soap then you bounce it around like a ball to felt it even more. Once it is done you take the tights off, deflate the ball so that it can be removed and used again and hey presto, you have a felted vessel! I did take step by step photos of the process to do a how to post but they are in my new phone and I don't have the proper attachment to get them out of my phone............why it the proper attchment didn't just come with the phone is a rant for another day ; )

WOW! I'm referring my embellisher students to your site. Love the work. It is another take on what I'm teaching them. Sweet and soft without being "cute."
