New For Autumn

As much as I hate to see the end of Summer, Autumn always arrives in a blaze of colour with the promise of cosy fires and hot fruit crumbles to look forward to.

This year I have been especially inspired by the beech leaves on the hedges lining our farm tracks and this has led to the creation of these Textile Leaf Necklaces.

First came this green one which I married up with some beads to give it a bit of weight.

Today I constructed more fabric in beautiful rich autumnal shades adding this copper circle to give the weight. The shimmer of the voiles I used really makes this neck piece catch the light when it is worn.

I wanted to make a matching set so I've used these swirly copper coloured buttons to give a simple focal point to both the necklace and the cuff.

The Aileen Clarke Crafts Range

During the last three years working with fabrics and felt, I have designed quite a few different items. I have decided to catalogue a few of the things I make here, complete with prices.

I'll start with Jewellery

Felt Swirl Bracelets

Available in lots of different colours. I usually make these for selling at fairs and always have some available.

Brooches

I just started making these this year. They are a real fusion of fabric, felt and stitch, with a nice iridescent bead in the centre to catch the light.

The green leaf is the newest design. I'm working on another one the same shape but in lovely warm autumn shades.
I also have a lovely purple and pink piece of fabric on the machine at the moment so more necklaces and brooches coming soon!

Wrist Cuffs


I started making these just for fun but they really took off at Glenfarg Festival this year.

I'm making three different widths now. Above are the thinnest ones at £5.95

These are the Medium width at £9.95

Again, I am always coming up with new colour ways for these. I have some lovely green fabrics and wool tops to work with for the next batch.


These are the widest cuffs at £15 each.
They are all one off pieces

Above is a special commission for a musician friend. It's great when people ask you to make things as it moves the creative process on a bit and you start thinking of all sorts of possibilities stemming from their one idea.
I'm now thinking that the embellished and stitched background might look nice with Celtic knot designs fused on.

Hair Bands

The hair bands have been an instant hit and a bargain at £6.95! I've made some in pinks and blues and some in purples and pinks and tried to make different sizes for different ages.


Bookmarks

Again, these are available in lots of different colours as well as the ones shown. Some will be going out to the shops and some will be available from me priced £4.95 each.

Handmade Textile Art Cards

I make hundreds of cards and couldn't possibly catalogue all the designs here.

They range from £2.50 to £12 for a really special one.

Framed Textile Art work

My framed pieces usually go off to the various shops that stock my work.


These Heart pictures come in a variety of colours. The frame measures 19x24cm and is free standing like a photo frame.

All the Fun of the Fair

I thoroughly enjoyed my day at the Craft Fairs Scotland event in St Andrews on Saturday.
Thank you to all my customers and those who complimented me on my work. Your lovely comments are much appreciated.
