St Andrews Craft Fair and New Textile Jewellery

I did my first fair with Craft Fairs Scotland yesterday at St Andrews Town Hall and really enjoyed it. It was well organised, well publicised with quality items for sale from many talented crafters.
My neighbours at the fair were Kirsty from Lovely Pigeon with her fabulous vintage button brooches, jewellery and hair clips and Carmen from Pict Pocket with her handmade wall hanging pockets and cozy children's jumpers.

Kirsty collects second hand and vintage buttons wherever she can find them and makes a point of never buying new.

Lovely Pigeon creations can be found in many outlets around Scotland and online at Folksy and Etsy

Carmen from Pict Pocket also goes for the second hand, upcycled approach with her jumpers and wall pockets. I bought this fab wall hanging for my daughters bedroom.

It's the kind of thing I'd love to have made myself but know I will never get around to and Carmen makes such a great job of these that it's a pleasure to buy something so nice from a fellow crafter.

As for my own work. Well, you can never guess what you are going to sell most of at a fair. I made lots of felt swirl bracelets and these new textile art neck pieces.

They proved to be quite popular so I will be listing a few in my Etsy and Folksy shops.

I also made some into brooches at Jo's suggestion and they sold too! So thanks for that Jo.

I think I will book to do the St Andrews Fair again in September. People really liked my felted landscapes and seascapes as well as these smaller framed textiles.

Also new to the Aileen Clarke Crafts range are these bookmarks. When I was making pictures and cards from a piece of fabric that I had felted I had a thin strip left over and made it into a bookmark for myself. I love it so much that I made a few for selling.
More colour ways coming soon.

Glad it went well Aileen! I'm doing the next two St Andrews fairs so see you there!

Was it reasonably busy?

Busy enough Ali. I hardly sat down all day. There was the usual lull around lunch time but it was steady right up till 4pm. Looking forward to meeting you and seeing your wonderful jewellery.

Hello there,
I bought one of your beautiful seascape cards at the St Andrew's Fair and have just bought another through your "folksy" site.

I love your work and I shall be keeping an eye on your listings.

Hey - nice to meet you the other day, just added you to my blog post about the craft fair on Saturday: http://www.milomade.co.uk/blog/?p=464 - I found it really slow and didn't sell as much as I did in Dunfermline the previous month. I've booked the November one though and hoping that I'll do better at that one as I'll have some of my new silver/button pieces for sale by then.

i also felt the St Andrews Craft Fair was quite busy. It was a great event but I won't be able to come to the next one which is unfortunate. I have booked a place at the Dundee event, which is incredibly handy! ^_^

Congratulations on a successful fair. I wanted to ask where you got your necklace wires from. I would like to put some of my felt pieces onto necklaces.

I was at the St Andrews event too but didn't get much chance for a proper look around at everyone stands (partly due to the fear of spending any earnings before i had even got home!) Hopefully i will get a chance to catch up at another fair and will keep up with your blog meanwhile.
