Handspun Heaven

After a week up on the Isle of Skye, I am bursting with inspiration and enthusiasm for new work.

This was our first visit to Skye and our first camping trip at this time of year. We often visit the west coast in summer but what I loved about going in April was the difference in the colours in the landscape. Mossy spring greens against the burnt umbers and raw siennas of the heather clad hills not yet in bloom. The different depths of blues in the sea when the spring sunshine blessed us with its rays.

These colours were all in my mind to incorporate into new textile pieces when we came upon this wonderful little shop.

The Handspinner Having Fun
is to be found on the Old Pier in Broadford.
I was mesmerised by colour and texture the minute I walked in the door!

So many fabulous yarns! How would I ever choose.

After much deliberation I settled for three hanks of yarn. I chose colours that I could use for seascapes and landscapes inspired by the island.

I would love to have bought some yarn just to knit up into a scarf or something for myself but knowing I'd never get time to do that, I resisted the temptation to go mad.

My daughter loved all the bright yarns here. I was gald to see she was as excited as me about them.

So watch this space for new work. With a craft fair coming up in May and a new Gallery/Shop wanting to stock my work, I'm going to be a busy girl over the next few weeks.

Dear Aileen, what a wonderful shop. We do not have anything like that around here. Can imagine that it was hard to choose.
Going to by a lottery ticket, when I win, will come and visit. Then we can go and by all the hanks we want...how about that one???LOL
Andrea.
P>S Can not wait to see you work with it!
