Have you been to Tim's Craft Shop yet?

Sharp's Close, Falkland

My best friend has lived in Falkland most of her life and on seeing things that I've made over the years or discussing crafts she always used to ask me "Have you been to Tim's Craft Shop yet?"
As I didn't live in Fife at the time I had never been in but I remember my first visit. Oooo......what an Aladin's Cave of beautiful things!

When I started making my cards my friend suggested I ask Tim to sell them. I was so nervous about asking him but when I finally plucked up the courage I was delighted with his reaction to them. He said they would fly off his shelves and they did! Things have gone from strength to strength and Tim now stocks my framed art work and other decorative bits and pieces as well.

I enjoy going in to see Tim with anything new that I've made. He'll tell me straight whether he likes it or not and even if it's not his taste it doesn't mean it's no good. He just knows what he likes and what his customers will like. His shop is full of beautiful things. From locally handmade crafts, vintage style shabby chic to bits and pieces that cater for the tourists.

We had a bit of fun placing my new cards and pictures around the place for the purpose of taking photos. It's amazing what will catch your eye as you wander through the little labyrinth of rooms. This shop is called The Cottage Craft Centre and it really is an old cottage. Every nook and cranny is used to display something in an interesting way. When I go in for a look with friends or family we are all attracted to different things making the visit an excited jabber of "Oh my goodness, have you seen this!"or "Oh wow! Look at that!"

My favourite room is the one right through the back. So many elegant pieces of glass ware, ceramics, candle sticks and sumptuous cushions and throws are displayed around unusual pieces of furniture and a beautiful old fire place.

Although it's always a bit scary taking small children into shops with breakables on display, Tim does have a well stocked kids corner. I had to laugh when he showed me the wind up sushi! But the glittery bouncy balls are brilliant. It's also testimony to Tim's skill at running a shop that he can incorporate all this into one small building and keep it looking organised and inviting.

So, have you been to Tim's Craft Shop yet?
